Great Timing
I’d been hearing rumors for weeks about cutbacks in our Austin office. This morning when I came in, my boss said he’d heard that today was the day.
Shortly thereafter, that was indeed confirmed and then we started to hear about others being layed off; some in our office.
A few minutes later, my boss came over and said he had received a meeting invitation from one of our VPs and figured it would a lay-off notice for him. I told him I couldn’t believe that it would be.
It was.
Our company leadership held a “company-wide” meeting this afternoon to explain things (“the reorganization”), the state of the financial health of our company (not as bad as had been anticipated) etc.
While I feel good that I dodged this bullet, the big question is: “Is this the end of the redundancies or are more planned?”

Aye, Dios mio. It’s all coming on too fast. How many people did they let go? What percentage? It’s getting worse and worse everywhere. Keeping our fingers crossed that you and Sterling weather all purges.

We only had about 10 in our office of 200, but systemwide, there were about 70 (10% of the total).
